Below are some images of my 1953 Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe.
The images below are the condition of the car about 1994. Since then I rebuilt the brakes, and installed them.
Of course I installed the ....., and the ....., and a complete ......, along wi th ......!
I am currently waiting for spring of 1998 to finish a few mechanical items.
Perhaps it will be roadable in full trim in early 1998.

The 6 volt system powers the lights, gas gauge, and the stock 6 volt radio.
The 12 volt system powers a 12 volt starter, the 12 volt ignition, a 12 volt el
ectric
fuel pump, and a 12 volt power plug ( for cell phone charging ).
The 6 volt items are connected to the 6 volt negative hot wire and the car grou
nd.
The 12 volt items are connected to the 12 volt positive hot wire and the car gr
ound.
The general public seldoms notices the dual voltage ( IE: 2 batterys ) while th

classic car fans and rodders do a double take, and want to know how it works.

During August 01 I installed a 1958 331 CI Industrial manifold. Orginally
this had 2 one barrel B & B carbs with govenors. I built 2 adapters to convert<
BR>
the manifold to mount 2 two barrel carbs from a 383 CI Chrysler.
After a week of trying to get these carbs tuned correctly, and having a car sho
w
coming up I went back to the 4 barrel Carb.
The major problem with this setup was that I could not get it to idle below 150
0 RPM.
This really affected the driveability of the vehicle by not allowing the transm
ission
to shift into the next higher range. This vehicle has the Fluidmatic M6 transmi
ssion.
At the higher RPM ( 1500 idle ) the transmission was in a free wheeling state.
At
accerlation the transmission was still was in the low range. This did not work
in 35 MPH
traffic at rush hour.
Since I live in a snow state, this project will have to wait until spring, and<
br>
I will reinstall the industrial manifold with 2 two barrel Holley's.
